Inside a Working Boatyard
Inside a Working Boatyard
Brick, NJ
Saturday, September 20, 2025, 9:30 am -1:30 pm
Instructor: Richard Sherman
We've obtained access to the workings of a real boatyard with nautical photographer Richard Sherman. Boatyards are dynamic environments that offer lots of opportunities to photograph a variety of subjects, such as old and new boats, rusty tools and shiny hulls, boatwrights and sailmakers, nautical equipment and seaside birds. We will exercise many of our photographic muscles, from portraiture to water abstracts, from high-ISO indoor shots to brightly lit outdoor scenes and from close-up images of boat details to sailing landscapes.
Smartphone users welcome.
“The Boatyard workshop was a wonderful experience for anyone who enjoys photographing wood boats, tools, textures, patterns, shapes, peeling paint and rust. Rich provided instruction and assignments at the beginning of our workshop to help us expand our creativity and vision. I highly recommend this workshop." Carla
"Rich…is incredible, so extremely knowledgeable. I learned so much from him. There is much more to good photography than pressing the shutter button. I highly recommend Princeton Photo Workshop!" JK
"Rich is an excellent instructor. He is organized, clear, and knowledgeable. Despite his globe-trotting career he is down to earth and encouraging to those of us who are still working out the basics.” Mary
"Rich met with us first to review the location and provided useful info to go out and shoot with. He encouraged us to email our processed images to him for a useful critique. If you have a desire for a hands on educational workshop, I strongly recommend PPW. - Tony
